MAY NEWS

We are rounding out April with Team Tryouts this Thursday 28th at 5pm.  Everyone 5 years and over is invited.  If you are interested in team gymnastics for anyone under 5, please see the front desk, and our preschool director will advise you on our preschool team path.

This weekend, May 8, our senior gymnast, Sophia Hyderally competes in the USA Gymnastics Level 10 National Finals in Forth Worth, Texas.  This is the highest level in the USA Junior Olympics and we wish her luck.

Summer Camp Super Sign Up Week is May 9-14.  This is a great time to sign up and receive bonus gifts.  Classes will run as normal throughout the summer, but we will also have summer day camps from 7.30am to 5.30pm, from May 31-Aug 5. We would appreciate if parents could pick up some postcards from the front desk, to leave at their work place.  Thanks.

During the weekend of May 14, our Excel team will compete in the USA Regional Finals in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.  We wish them luck!

Team Banquet is Thursday 19th.  See the booster club for details.  Junior and Rec. Development teams will also have a banquet to celebrate their achievements, on Wed. 25th. See Coach Paige if you could help with set up.

Friday 20th is our Annual Planet Mini-Olympics, from 4.30-6pm.  All students are invited to participate.  Our senior team will be judging, and everyone will receive a medal, goody bag, and cake afterwards.  Our excel and optional teams will do an exhibition, along with our Planet Fencing team.  This will be a USA Gymnastics Official Rio Olympic event!  Sign up at the front desk for $10.  Spectators are free.  Team members, senior 1 and up, and rec. team do not pay; just sign up.

The week of 23-27 will be Achievement Week.  All class students receive a ribbon and certificate at the end of class, as we celebrate their hard work.

The Planet Gymnastics Parents’ Association will hold its annual meeting,  Thursday 26th around 5.30pm.  If your child joins one of our teams, this is a great way to get up to speed, and pick up your new team handbook.

Monday 30th is Memorial Day, so no gym that day.  There is no make up class, as May already had 4 Mondays.  Summer Camps and summer schedule starts the next day, Tuesday 31st.  Evening classes will continue for any team members still at school, and our classes continue as before.  If classes are low, we may join some together, but we will let you know.

Vlad will be doing his extra conditioning classes for team members this summer.  Watch out for information on Melanie’s camps too, and remember to sign up for our Annual Planet Olympic Camp.  World and Olympic gold medalists, Artur Akopyan and Igor Korobchinski will be coaching at it!!!
